Engaged On The Beach

On July 3, 2010, I got engaged to the most wonderful man. He took me to Tybee Island to watch the fireworks. We both enjoy watching the firework show; we watch it every year in our home town. This was our first time watching the show on Tybee. By the time we got to the Island it was so packed that it took a hour to park.

Finally, after parking we walked to the pier to eat supper. On the way I picked up a shell. It is tradition, every time I go to the beach I come back with a bucket of shells. We ate at Fannies. By the time we got seated, ordered, and then ate the food it was almost time for the fireworks to start. We walked down to the beach and put our blanket down. We talked and laughed until the firework show started.

Halfway through the firework show Mark handed me what I thought was the only shell I had collected that day due to time. I looked down and he had written “Marry Me” on it. I was asking him how he wrote that on my shell, because I had been with him the whole day. After I said “Yes” and he gave me my gorgeous ring he informed me that the shell I had was not the same shell I had picked up earlier that day. The shell was from a previous trip to Tybee, they just happened to look similar.

I was so excited it was hard to watch the rest of the firework show. His cousin Nicky and her boyfriend Bert showed up shortly after and we told them the news. Nicky gave me a fortune that she had got out of a fortune cookie a few days earlier. It read, “Soon wedding bells are in a family member’s future.” She never showed it to Mark and we thought that was so cool.

I spent the rest of the night on the phone with my mom, dad, brothers, grandma, and aunt. This day will go down in my book as one the best days of my life. Here is to a new chapter in my life; a year of planning and getting married to the love of my life.

Love Conquers All

This summer I have had the opportunity to visit my boyfriend in Tennessee. We have been together going on eight years (August). We started working together while juniors in high school. He was a cook and I was a waitress. At the time we both were dating other people. After graduation we ran into each other and the sparks flew. From that moment on we have been inseparable until recently, although in our hearts we still are.

After he graduated he looked for a job close to home but had no luck, so he tried out of state and received the first job he applied for. We discussed how taking the job six hours away would affect our relation. I knew that this was a great opportunity for him in fact for both of our futures; I was not going to stand in the way. I helped him move in and leaving that weekend was the hardest thing I have ever had to do. You know the saying, “time makes the heart grow fonder”, and well I am living proof. Even though our relation has been great, having time apart is hard and when we do get to see each other after some time it is wonderful. It has really made me see the small and big things that I took for granted. Every time we get the chance to be together we cherish it. I can’t wait until this year of school is over and we can start our future together. He is truly my best friend and soul mate.

Love doesn’t make the world go round. Love is what makes the ride worthwhile.

Missing my love

Me and my boyfriend have been together for 7yrs, August will be 8yrs. Our relationship has been amazing. He has showed me what it is like to be loved and how to show love. Our love never grows old. I enjoy all the little moments we have together as well as the big ones. We love to travel, go to the movies, the beach and the list goes on forever.

After graduating from Georgia Southern University he was employed with UPS, however he was looking for more. He recently took a job in Tennessee. We talked and discussed what it would be like for us for the next year. I will graduate in May 11' from GSU. I told him to take the job because this is our future and a great opportunity for him. I will not lie and say that it is not hard, it is difficult. I miss him so much. I am looking forward to spending this summer with him.

I hope everyone can find the love that I have found!!
